Can anyone identify the date of the St Christopher's badge below or know when University Motors moved to Stratton House? Where would such a badge have been fitted on the dash board of an L1? Also, does anyone know the meaning of the two shields?
Many thanks in advance, Tim ... from Australia so please forgive me if the meaning of the shields is obvious to a Londoner!

University Motors' change of address to Stratton House was announced in the March 1932 issue of Motor Sport, so had presumably taken place some time in February. Stratton House had previously been the London showrooms of Singer: it still appears as such in an advertisement in The Times of October 19th 1931, but by February 1932 their advertising directed buyers to Pass & Joyce or Cook & Palmer. |

1 Brick Street seems to have been occupied by University Motors from at least 1922. The first UM advert in The Times which mentions 83 Piccadilly dates to May 12th 1925. There is a also a further clue in the company's telephone number, which changed from Grosvenor 1620 to Grosvenor 3001 some time between August 14th and October 8th 1925 (no advertisements published between those dates).
So 1925 would look to be favourite! |

There was a University Motors (abbreviated to "UM") medallion on an L2 body that came with my F-type. I passed it around at a T-Register meeting at my house some time ago and one of our erstwhile members stole it! I put an ad in our club magazine asking for its return (say, in an unmarked envelope) to no avail. From memory, it was round and about 1 1/2ins in diameter, copper or brass, and had a number stamped on it about which someone in the UK gave me the details (customer's name, date, etc.). I think that it had something to do with the warranty on the car. |

Does anyone have information on where the badge was mounted?
