I'm selling my beloved and faithful P Type, she has become quite well known in her own right over the last few years having graced the pages of MGCC, MG Enthusiast and VSCC publications. MG3294 - P0786 first registered in September 1934 and left the factory as a 4 seater according to her chassis plate. Number #250 on our register, she was completely restored from near barn find condition around 2002 by her previous owner Andrew Bradshaw, at which time she already had a 2 seater body. Equipped with full matching weather equipment including hood, side screens and two sizes of tonneau covers. She has been re-trimmed with a new bench seat made with new distressed leather to match, which draws many compliments. This car has retained much of her original patina and the chromework has been intentionally left untouched, it's only original once! Block and gearbox are original but rebored to 939cc with a Baynton Jones (naturally) sports cam, and beautiful 1.25" bronze bodied SUs which help the performance further, and to harness the extra power, she has a steel nosed diff. She is fitted with a genuine Bosch 900 distributor, and the usual updated oil filter conversion. Indicators and aero screens complete the ensemble. Maintained to a high standard, she has recently had her front springs replaced as well as her front hubs and kingpins, brand new courtesy of S&V, and the dynamo has recently been rebuilt by Chris Wallis. Fitted an electric fan last summer to help on hot days in modern traffic. She has been used as a summer runaround by the family at home in Warwick, as well as adventures in Europe for a rally, and obviously Pre-War Prescott nearby and has occasionally been known to venture on the track, being two time Don Moore Trophy winner, and the current holder for 2019/20. No stranger to the COY rankings, she's fast and competitive and can easily keep up with modern traffic on short or long journeys, I have even hidden a couple of USB ports for the phone or sat nav in case one cannot recruit a co-driver at short notice. I'm selling her; never thought I would, because I have a project car nearing completion and really don’t have the garage space for two cars, wish I did, but she has to go to a good home and be used.
