Chassis No. 2M0700, Engine No. MG 448A was the original engine in the car, but replaced by MG 26927A. UK Reg. No. UW 6063, Triple M Register No. 160. Recently completed restoration from the chassis up. Ash frame, covered in thin marine ply, closed cell foam and then Everflex waterproof vinyl, marine quality, cerulean blue. Steel mudguards black, bonnet and side valences cerulean blue. Modern lipped seals fitted to crank and dynamo. Speedometer was overhauled by Rich Speedograph in the UK but has a black face instead of the correct ivory.
Radiator has a modern core with honeycomb false facings both sides, to preserve the period look. Brakes are cable and rod operated. 850cc Engine, single overhead camshaft driven by vertical dynamo. Car has been converted to 12 volts. All lights are LED, turn indicators included. The car will need commissioning as it has not been put back on the road as yet, delayed by health issues! The car was bought by one Donovan Charles Baird in 1929. It has a UK plate UW6063 which I understand is still available.
I have a LAT IMAGE of the car competing in the 1930 Lands End trials, but no record of it's final position in the event. From register records it was completed 16.9.1929.
Imported from the UK, sight unseen in May 1962 by Donald McDonald in Randpark Ridge, Johannesburg. Bought by me in December 2013 in a totally stripped condition, just before Donald passed away. I started on a complete restoration beginning of June 2014.
