J2 J4199, 1st reg. 1/11/1933, Engine No. (original) 2767AJ. Bought new from Henlys Ltd by my RAF father. In 1934 he took it on a tour down through Germany having had work done at Abingdon under guarantee. Only 3 owners after that from 1935 until I was fortunate enough to buy it back in 2005 after it had stood unused in a shed for 50 years. Some pre and early post war competition history, reputed to have been modified by Harry Lester and has 1 1/8” SU’s, improved cylinder head ports, Wolseley Hornet hydraulic brakes, Scintilla magneto (not presently fitted) etc. Total strip down and rebuild 2005-7 from chassis up; bodywork repaired and re-panelled where necessary retaining as much original content as possible but with new fuel tank, running boards and firewall. Interior by Collingburns. Engine rebuild 2008 by Barrie Dean with Phoenix Crank, “P” type rods, seals etc. and oil filter conversion, “Martlet” pistons as found, standard bore. New rear hubs and half shafts fitted 2014. Tyres are 5 good Avon SMs on rebuilt and powder coated wheels. Electric radiator fan fitted. Sadly, age has crept up on me and I can no longer give it the use and care and attention needed. Price Offers around 27,000 GBP |
