A rare opportunity to own a 1935 Original Four Seater MG PB Midget with original registration BOH 858. Chassis No. PB0514. Engine number 726APB, body number 674/2574, body type B252. A chance to own what is believed to be one of only approximately 10 surviving 4-seaters PBs in the UK, possibly worldwide, with some documented history from the MG Car Company. During its life, as was normal at the time, the car has had some modifications and repairs but is still largely original with serial numbers of key parts matching factory records. I have owned this car since 2015 as a rebuild project. I believe it to have had 11 recorded owners shown in the old buff log book all in the Cambridge area, the current V5 shows 3 owners including myself. The car was bought from the main agents Frank Hallam, Bristol Street, Birmingham in November 1935, by Pilot Officer C.A Potter who was later stationed at RAF Manby in 1939. I believe some 99 Four seater PBs were built by the MG Factory.
I bought the car in its current state hoping to put it back together, but time and other projects have stopped this happening. Despite all this the car is in remarkably good condition with no rot to speak of, so little will have to be replaced, only refurbished. The car comes with some new parts including a Phoenix crankshaft, rods, and pistons. Also, other new parts including new headlights. Some chassis work has been completed. The car is complete with instruments, starter and dynamo. There are no missing parts apart from the wiring loom, this was discarded for safety reasons.
The Chassis, Engine, Gearbox, numbers all match the original from 1935, some are also recorded on the original Guarantee Plate on the firewall. The registration number BOH 858 is the original registration as issued in Birmingham in 1935. As a rare four seater, it’s great car for someone who wants to involve their family in their passion or just carry passengers or a little more luggage on rallies or days out. I am happy to answer any questions from anyone seriously interested. The car is located in Girton on the outskirts of Cambridge, just opposite the college. More photographs will be added as soon as I can extricate the car from the garage. Price 18,000 GBP Email ross_alistair@yahoo.co.uk |
