A challenge for all Triple M owners. I am looking for a suitably seasonal photo for the cover of the next Bulletin so look through your old photos and send any snowy scenes for consideration. |

Hardly huge piles of snow, but the attached photo was taken in February of 2011 moments after PB0560 emerged from an 11 year restoration.

PA 0758 enjoying the VSCC Winter driving tests at Arncott barracks in December 2010.
Tomorrow, I will be at Bicester Heritage for this years event. However it will be somewhat warmer than the freezing conditions in 2010 but with winds gusting to 43 mph.

Can I assume this pic was taken when WW2 was occuring given the N/S headlamp arrangement?

The clue is in the date, 1941, KR200. See "Seeking information about a picture."

Oops missed that.
I've noticed the door is bowing out at a bit the forward lower area.
Mine are both like that. I put it down to age and the ash door frame warping over the years. It was restored in '79 so has done extremely well!

Interesting comment Richard, about your doors bowing out (lower front edges) Mine are similarly afflicted also being restored in the late 70's, is there and easy way to correct them?
Without wishing to hijack the thread, maybe I will start an fresh one with the same question....

On a T-type, the traditional way of curing the bowing door syndrome is to rig a turnbuckle between opposite corners and tighten it to pull one or another corner in. However, since most Triple-M cars have door pockets, that solution is impractical, as the turnbuckle and attached wires would be visible through the pocket. The only solution I have found that works, I believe I found on this forum. That is to weld two pieces of steel together in an "L" configuration with the horizontal portion of the "L" at a slight angle to the vertical. By screwing the vertical to the rearmost door timber and the horizontal to the bottom door timber, this imparts a slight twist to the door bottom. I did this to my PA and it allowed the door to sit quite flush. However, I later took it off when I felt the door had reshaped itself, but in the interim year, it has again returned to a slightly warped shape. I will need to reapply the solution.
Sorry for continuing the hijacking of this thread.

With regard to seasonal photos: I love the photo in the MMM Register news in the December Safety Fast of Philip Flower struggling uphill on a trial with his passenger having a "hang-over" and inhaling the fumes. Lovely picture! Thank you for sharing, Jeremy!
