I notice on the List of additional equipment for P types recently posted, that an option of 18 x 4.75" tyres was offered. Does anyone have this size of tyre on aP type and if so how do they perform? I would be very interested to know. Many thanks, Graham. |

While I've no doubt you could Graham, if you look carefully I think you'll find that's for the NB which of course had 18 inch wheels as standard.
Cheers,

Hello Dave, as my wife always says! 'I never look close enough' In the 70's I owned a J2 with 18" wheels and wideish tyres and it went so well, much better than my J2 today. It did have a Ford side valve engine too and it cost me forty quid, so much fun for so little money. Happy days. Wifey hated! |

It may be of interest to know that I have run P1048 (MMM1925) on three different wheel/tyre combinations. When I bought the car in 1995 it had 4x18/475/500s fitted (photo 1). I then swapped for 4/19s (photo 2)and finally (photo 3) ended up with J wings (rescued from a scrap skip - they were off Brian Rhead's J2), 19s on the front and 18s on the back. This gave excellent road holding (and grass holding for that matter - recognise the navigator?) and the cycle wings added 5mph to the top speed.
Hope that helps. Bob Clare

Hello Bob, thanks for the info. I'm sure that gained quite a bit of weight also by the installation of cycle wings which is something that I am doing with my PB. Cheers, Graham. |

I thoughtI saw a another list that said that Preselector gear boxes were and option for #65505;25. ?
Certainly there seem to be some P types and N type that had them from new.
