Hello,

If anyone has had this done, could anyone give me a rough cost for re-chroming a radiator shell please?

Thanks
Paul.

Hi Paul Derby are the best but not the cheapest you'll pay around £400 they will copper it first then chrome it. In my eyes the shell is the most important bit of chrome on the car if the shell looks bad it will reflect on the whole car. I got my shell chromed at Derby

It was actually £375 that was 5 years ago thou! So probably add another £100 today. Whoever you use make sure they do vintage car chrome especially radiators then it should get treated with some respect and come out very good. Don't just go for the cheapest the rest of the cars chrome isn't as important and can't get damaged as easy as a rad shell can!

Paul, I've emailed you. I just recently used the Vintage Car Radiator Company located at Bicester Heritage. They are very fussy about the quality of their plating and the pre plating prep of the shell.

Ignore the heron in the background. If I let it out it eats the goldfish

Looks like the heron is eyeing up goldfish in the conveniently-placed loo!

I see you use the hamster method to polish the radiator?

The heron is a touch large for a radiator mascot....

Well you hang a piece of string with suitable hamster food attached to its end from the middle of the badge bar and then let it swing from side to side. The hamster, as you can see currently resting below the o.s.f. spring, when it spy's the food swinging away from it rushes up one side of the radiator and down the other only to find the food has swung back the other way. It then retraces it's steps only to have to repeat the whole process. The fluffy hamster tummy effectively polishes the radiator. Experts in this field will tell you to trim and file their claws before you start to avoid unwanted scratching.

Apologies for the delayed reply I have been out of circulation for a bit having been bitten by a cross hamster.
