Would anyone have, or know where I might get, a useable axle for my P type ? My existing one has been found to have a crack in it. I believe the axle is the same for all MMMs apart from Ns and Ks.

Hello James

Welcome to the Triple Forum which is where you will find plenty of expert information on our ohc cars.

We also have the Yearbook and bimonthly Bulletin, the subscription form for the latter can be downloaded from the Documents section. In addition you will have noticed the announcement by our Chairman Dick Morbey concerning the launch of our new Register Database which can be accessed via the link on the home page.

The front axle axle for the J,P, F and L types are interchangeable.

Yes - but be careful - the original C/D axles were quite slender and were beefed up considerably by the time the PB was built. Presumably the change from 8 to 12" brakes caused greater twist. Has anyone documented this - maybe by weight of the axles?

The M type axles is completely different and cannot be fitted to your P type.

Can anyone show the difference between the early and (better) later one.

Like to determine which one I have.

In the absence of the MG axle, has anyone used a different axle ?

FYI,
Width of axle front to back, measured as close as possible to the king pin knuckle.
C Type 0.825"
PA 0.910"

PB 0.95- 0.97" including paint !
