I need a pair of headlamp support arms for my M-Type rebuild. I have the cross bar and the lugs for each end but my uprights have been badly welded in the past and are beyond recovery.
Anybody able to help me?

There are two distinct patterns of support arms, depending on wether the car is an early or late model

Mine is a very early example - 2M0700, with external front brake arms and rear hinged doors.
The supports I am looking for have a cranked bend to them, bolting on the outside of the front chassis rail. The headlamp mounting lug has a grub screw below the lamp itself which locks the solid cross bar in place. Hope this all makes sense!

I have read about copies of the indicated version cast (in recent decades) in aluminium but I have never knowingly seen any examples of these. I knew a chap who fabricated a pair from bent and welded steel tube and some filler which though not perfect worked very much better than I expected.

I had a pair of the 'new' aluminium ones with the M when I bought it and set the whole front end up with them. Then, just before the car was finished, I came across an original pair on Ebay and fitted them instead. I sold the aluminium ones on to another M owner. I may be wrong about this, but did the ali ones originate from Andy King? Apologies if I've got that wrong....

Ah yes Kimber, your memory is better than mine.. As to whether he is still active, my recollection is that I tried to source some other components from him at the time but sadly he never got round to making them. I eventually sourced everything I needed by watching the sales forum here..
