It is possible to vary the ratios within a PA Box to something similar to the PB – unfortunately it involves additional cost because new gears and selector forks have to be purchased. I did do this conversion in my PA box using a set of gears supplied by sports and vintage - must say that it has improved things considerably.

I did ask Mike Dowley at S&V a year or so back as to when he might make another batch of his excellent PA gearbox close-ratio conversion kits. I fear it may be a long wait as I believe that despite his best endeavours Mike is finding it difficult to get realistic quotes from sub-contractors for both the gears and selectors. I suspect that he and Jamie are rather busy at present with their move but once they've had chance to settle into their new premises it might be worth asking again. Regards, Neil |

Doug, if you would be happy with a PA engine instead a PB one, you could contact a friend of mine, who possibly has one for sale (and a gearbox). His e-mail address is: deusch-kfz@t-online.de
