I'm having to remake the floor, firewall and toe boards for the M Type and would like to get them as close as feasible to the original design. Are there Any drawings or photos of same. I've looked thru the MMM and VMR files without success so far. Should the floor sit on the chassis rails or the side frame. How and where is it supported crosswise. I'm a doer, but a designer I ain't I'm afraid

Just found a few basic line drawings on MGMMM.com but would still appreciate pictures of floorless M's etc

Hi Peter, I am making an M body early in the New year. Contact me off forum, I will be able to provide any info you need if you can wait a few weeks. Regards, Garry |

Ditto, could use some good pics of firewall and boards, I know mine is missing the support where the front boards join and has the wrong tunnel. Are there enough of us to warrant getting a batch made. Sam Christie has certainly posted pictures of his before but some dimensions would be really helpful. I need to re-do all my floor a it has now lasted longer than the original the car having been restored in the 70s

I'd be interested in joining a batch order for tunnels. Steve Gilbert advertises them in his standard parts list.
Jorgen's last photo shows a continuous floor but the current consensus is, I think, that the parts either side of the gearbox were separate panels removable for maintenance tasks. Again, there is lots of stuff about this on previous posts, so a visit to the archive will be very instructive.

Peter, no one has mentioned ply thickness. The 'firewall' should be 1/4" and the toeboard is best made of 1/2". Fixing the toeboard with bolt headed screws makes removal much easier. |
