Mike & Jamie at Vintage MG Parts had the gauge face, boss, needle, and glass set. Encourage others interested in the part to make contact as they are very limited supply.
Now in need of the portion that hangs down into the tank.

Best,

Found that in the archives this was a original fitted item on L2,1933, some J's and P-types.

Hi
Original fitting to "all" open L types but may be different faces.
Similar item on Morris flatnose from 1927, but different lenght of parts in tank.

Cheers
Sven

Hello Brian. Here are some photos of the archimedean fuel gauge I made for my PB. I have yet to cut the hole in the gas tank. Gauge will be positioned 2" in from the LH side and central. Float moves 13". Moth Eaten (MMM forum member in Australia) was most helpful in supplying dimensions of his original gauge. I think he owns an L-Type. Was a fun project! Ian

Tan,
Great pictures. That really turned out! Mine as noted came with the old mod so no fear on cutting a tank. The ring at the top on my car has bolts passing thru from the inside of the tank and nuts placed on top the blanking panel. The ring seems to be a section of thick walled pipe drilled for the bolts. I too will be making a similar unit. Have one in my Honda outboard tank.

Kindly,

Brian W Sullivan

Hi Ian,
Yes this is the same item I have found from a suplier. The item is of course not as listed but probably a few years old. Saw it listed on Prewar Car site before.

Would love to see an original if someone could show one.
Kindly,

Brian W Sullivan
