I am looking for solid alloy dome head rivets to fit to my 3 spoke steering wheel for my L1. Can any member recommend a supplier in the UK? Thankyou.

What was used originally Nigel? I don't think I'd be happy that the wheel wouldn't come off in my hands with alloy rivets, but I'm ready to be shot down!

"Bang, bang"
It depends on the make up of the alloy, of which there are many.
"An alloy is a mixture of two elements, one of which is a metal. Alloys often have properties that are different to the metals they contain. This makes them more useful than the pure metals alone. For example, alloys are often harder than the metal they contain."

Nigel, I've had good service for rivets from: http://www.sapphireproducts.co.uk/ They have a very comprehensive selection, worth a try.

I can also endorse the service I had from Sapphire Products. They are very helpful and, importantly, very friendly.

I agree with Dave , I had a steering wheel with Ali rivets in that had started to wear causing the rim to move in relation to the centre. Sapphire do stainless rivets the right size which I use when I refurb a steering wheel |

Nigel, you are of course absolutely right however, I think you must agree that most lay people, when using the term "alloy" as distinct from "alloy steel" or some such, are referring to aluminium.

I thought about that point before loosing off the first barrel; most lay people don't tend to worry about their alloy wheels. Similarly the MG engineers used "Pistominium" in the mid 30's(see page 92 of Maintaining the Breed) an effective and strong aluminum alloy.

Hi Nigel I'd love to know how you get on as I need some for my wheel too. In fact if you're getting some sent maybe the minimum order means you could get some extras if that's not too cheeky |
