Just for information for anyone interested, there is a copy of this book for sale on EBay.

The price, a mere £564.32 and £29.52 postage (from Australia)

I have no connection with the sale.

Now it's getting REALLY silly !! Thanks, Adrian.

Glad I bought mine when it came out, I think in early 1990s for £16.95 and I got Mike to sign it for me.A very treasured item which no amount of money would persuade me to part with.(No, honestly.)

It is an interesting Internet business phenomenon.

Many specialist booksellers don't actually have the book they are advertising on their web site. But they think they 'know someone who does'. So they run search algorithms daily which look for the book, find it on another seller's site, note its price and add 10% or some such to the advertised price they found, for the book on their site. If a buyer now comes along and orders and pays for this book, off they go and buy it from the other seller at trade rates, sell it on and everyone is happy.

Unfortunately most booksellers use the same algorithm, and are ratcheting up the price on each other's web site price.

If you look around the specialist book sites you will find some books now up in the hundreds of thousands of UKP.

If you really want the book, contact the seller, ask if they have it in their stock room and make a realistic offer, you may get lucky!
