I had the aluminium stone guards made at the same time as the mudguards were fabricated. They were supplied via the late Peter Gregory's supplier of fabricated parts for the various cars he rebuilt.
I am not sure if these can be bought separately?

Please excuse the intrusion, Tom, but if it would help, I would also be interested in a pair.

I actually meant stone guards (not spats) like the ones George has shown....
Ok to all fabricators out there 2 pairs are now required...! |

Hello everyone, I doubt that these can be made without the wing to match them to. Every wing could be slightly different the V in the middle could be slightly off set and at a different angle, I doubt that any fabricator would want to risk making these. But I could be wrong! Paul. |

If difficult to find a fabricator, I have a panel maker who I am sure would be happy to ' knock out ' a few.

Just out of interest Paul55 I did not realise that these stone guards had a specific design...?
On a J2 would they have had this 'V' crimped section or would they have been plain...? |

sorry Tom I don't know. I was just making a general comment on what I could see to be issues having the spats made without the wing to match it to. Paul. |

A good question, Tom. This shows the stone guards on my car in 1934 and they don't look to be shaped with a nice 'V' down the middle.

And this is how it was found nearly forty years later with again no rib. However my recollection is that they were made of ribbed aluminium, not plain like the ones George has shown.

They have the V to make them sit against the wing profile, otherwise there's a big gap between the Ali guard and the wing. |

Do you know anyone that makes them or has a pattern for them? |

I remember seeing, several years ago, that Steve Gilbert would only make them if he had the wings they were for.

This picture was posted on the Forum a few years ago and to judge by the general condition of the car would seem to have been taken pre war. The stone guards clearly have the 'V'. It's interesting that they have been positioned so as to extend down below the front end of the wing.

I did enquire from Steve Gilbert some time ago about getting some and he said he'd need to have the wings to fit them properly.
