Anyone got or know what piece of brass I can use to bung this hole in with please? I can't see me linking up a temp gauge on my D-salonette as there's nowhere to put it! So looking for a tidy solution ... don't know the threads either.

You need one of these Chris it’s from a bulb and nut from a temperature gauge I repaired this week. This will seal the hole. You can have it I’ll bring it to stoneliegh.

MG TC and early TD had a nice neat flat faced plug that fitted into this hole in the radiator and replaces the double ended boss shown which accepts a temperature gauge probe.Plug should be available from a T Type supplier. Bob, Canaqda |

These items are usually BSP threads, why not try your local plumbers merchant. |

Agreed, the fitting is 3/8" British Standard Pipe, BSP-3/8"x 19 tpi,OD of thread 0.656". Blank plug should be available in UK. Do not use American National Pipe Thread, NPT, as 3/8" size has only 18 tpi. Bob, Canada

If the existing threaded union is rusted well into the rad. top tank and you do not wish to risk attempting its removal it is a cap rather than a plug that you will need from a plumbers merchant.

I filled mine with a 3/8" BSP plug from a plumbers merchant directly into the radiator. |

Dodgers way is to screw on a 3/8BSP nut from a pipe union with a ball bearing of the appropriate size.... may need a little sealant if the union is corroded. FOZ |

I have achieved a similar result using an o ring and a coin of appropriate size. |

I agree but everybody has a box of coins from around the world and they tend not to corrode. (they are not always inflation proof though!) |
