In 2014 I posted the 2nd link below, regarding The Abingdon Trial,
with reference to the following link,

http://motoringpicturelibrary.com/Images?item=22850&order_by=2012-P-3537.jpg&unique_name=Images&location_id=5&filter=dg8927

The date quoted, 1937, is incorrect. It was actually April 21. 1934

Below is a link of a posting from 2014.
http://www.triple-mregister.org/forums/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=8648&SearchTerms=dg,8927

A copy of a portion of the 1978 article that Cat refers to is below.

Would anyone have further information regarding the 1934 Abingdon Trial. DG 8927 happens to be my PA 0512.

Any information gratefully revived.

Thanks.

Brian.

Not really any more information, but there’s a nice 1934 picture of our J2351 climbing Mill Lane in MIke Hawke’s, 75 Years of the J2 Midget, with the Marquis at the helm!

This article is from the May 1934 edition of MG in house MaGazine. It may help. Good luck, Ian.

I suspect that many users of the Forum aren't aware that extracts from the MG MaGazine (including the article above) were scanned by Peter Green some years ago and placed on the website. They can be found from the Home Page > Documents on-line > MG MaGazine

Thanks to Ian for posting the page.
No awards for my car or driver.
Although having a total entrant list of 123
my guy just squeezed in as entrant 120.

PA 0512 was delivered to the dealership Imperial Motor Mart of Cheltenham and they used and abused the car for four months and 4000 miles. They destroyed a rear axle shaft and axle casing plus breaking the sump, etc, etc. as factory file show.

When it was fixed they sold the car to the "first owner" and issued the guarantee slip for the six months. I think the adage
"buyer beware" comes to mind.

The representatives of I.M.M were G.J. Rea and W. Wathes. Rea is mentioned in "Wheelspin".

If you ever come across any info. on them
please keep me in mind.

To Simon. Thank you.I was aware of the extracts from MG Magazine. Dummy me only tried clicking on the list and not being aware that you click on the "Year". Dumber by the minute.

To Peter Green. Thanks for sharing, and all the uploading work that you performed.
Well done. It's appreciated.

Brian.

Here are a couple of items from my collection relating to the Abingdon Trial.

The 1934 badge is a little strange. It’s about the size of a 1 pence piece but is enamelled at the front and engraved to the rear. Badges like this were usually either lapel badges or dash plaques but this one is neither.

The tankard is slightly later but still a nice thing. Cheers, Ian.
