I see that a 2ltr oil catch tank ( previously 1ltr )is now required for speed events and I am finding it almost impossible to fit a 2ltr container under the bonnet of our P type. As racing regs already require this, I am asking if any of our racing guys with a P type can show me how they overcame the space problem and fitted this 2lt container ? A photo please as I'm at my wits end !! Here is my 1ltr tank Graham PB0602

I agree Tim, but the VSCC say this will apply to their events. They have a fixation on 'fluid spills' at the moment. A bit ott if you ask me. Graham |

I have just e-mail Rachel Watkins at VSCC on this and she has replied:-
Hi Tim
Yes Neil Proctor has clarified that for Speed events the minimum requirement is 1 litre, S10.3.5.
That's good enough for me.
Regards
Tim

If I can help in my small way, contact Robin Lackford ( website ), I am currently in Cyprus so cannot help with details, Robin is an MG racer of many moons and will no doubt be able to help you.

You P-type racers have it easy... so much space under the bonnet ! On the C-type I have a 1L can on the o/s next to the flywheel housing and another on the other side with a connecting pipe between them... 2nd 1 L can is slightly lower than the first. Tried writing 2L on the original 1 L can but was told off for being a very naughty boy....... FOZ |

Just got the VSCC Bulletin today - mentions catch tanks.
The 1 litre max tank is “for radiator tanks only”. It states the requirement for “oil catch tanks” , which was missing from the guide, is 2 litre minimum.

George. That was why I started this topic, but if you read above you will see that Tim has resolved the issue with the VSCC and it is still 1ltr for speed events. Graham
