Richard Edmonds, a friend of mine who runs a classic car and automobilia auction company contacted me yesterday to say he has a lovely M type and a quantity of M type spares consigned in his next auction in July. Sadly the owner has passed away. Looks like a great car for someone presumably supplied by University Motors judging by the registration. I don’t know anymore information. Contact Richard Edmonds Auctions if you’re interested. Thanks, Ian.

I think this is 2M/2278, engine MG2050, build date 29/10/30, MMM no. 1622 and owned by R. Eastwood - that from the 1982 MMM Register. Doesn't look like a 1980's restoration though ...

Is it my eyes, or is it sitting on flat tyres?

If it sells locally on 7th July, just in time for the new owner to bring it to Pre-War Prescott!

DVLA have it first registered Sep 30 so that might not tally with Ian's build date.
Of course DVLA might be wrong or it might be a replacement plate

What a little peach. It makes you wonder just how many other unknown cars are sitting out there just waiting to see the light of day.

We, the MGCC, may not know of this car but it looks like the MGOC and OCC could know about it as I think their badges are on the badge bar. Enemies we may well be but aren't there more important things, like sharing historical information?

It has not been hiding.
It is on, at least the 2015 version as 2M2045 MMM number 1622.
Mike, you need to look harder !

Hmm. Definitely 2M/2278, MG2050, MMM 1622 on the VMR chassis register. I don't have any record of 2M/2045 surviving, but its build date was 20/8/30, so there is still some room for confustication if the DVLA date is to be believed.

By the way, with the sad demise of Hereford Vintage Auctions, Richard Edmonds has been invited to Pre-War Prescott to talk future possibilities for the auction. He has promised to come along in something interesting, so if the M doesn't sell, he may very will bring it and we can all take our magnifying glasses to the front offside dumbiron!

Here are a few more photos of the car and some of the spares that will be sold separately at the same auction.
