Concours specialists should have a look at this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202340698615?ul_noapp=true

£750, tools extra ! Only six days left to grab a bargain.

Very tempting, Colin, but sadly the tool straps are broken so I'll pass and save my money for that pair of carburettors...

I've actually bought tools from the chap who has this for sale and they've always been fairly priced and of good quality. So it will be interesting to see if it does in fact sell. But what I think is interesting is that this original example shows just how good the Collingburn ones are. My well used and now rather scruffy Collingburn one looks identical to this one.

Maybe good to find Rover P1 versions which are the same.

Yes it looks like an original, probably a later one or not used that much as the fabric parts are in good condition and looks quite clean. I've got one for reference but is in a worse state than this. I won't be buying it and the person that pays £750 for it must have money to burn. Yes they were widely used in Rovers and we believe many pre-war cars of the period. Thanks for your kind words Simon, a batch is on the horizon but no month yet.

Nah, I like the well used look of mine. I believe it's known as 'patina' amongst the dealers!

Hmmm, Patina, also commonly known as "muck" haha. Some dealers charge extra for that naturally occurring muck y'know... sorry, I mean Patina #128513;. Patina used to mean tarnishing by age, air and light exposure on the surfaces of metal and wood but like many sayings including vintage, retro, squab etc. It's original meaning has been lost and rightly or wrongly, gets used more widely. Patina is a lovely word to describe muck and sounds good when people are trying to flog old stuff that hasnt been cleaned in years :-)
