Dave Carson ( h.a.r.d@mail.com ) is trying to make progress with his very early M-type. He finds his computer challenging and has asked me to place the following Parts Wanted Ad on his behalf

(1) A good complete 8/43 Differential

(2) Parts to complete a transmission brake. Dave has the parts pictured below and also has two brake shoes but he is not sure what else he needs to complete the assembly. The brake drum and prop-shaft spider unit is missing.

(3) A Pair of rear hubs

These parts would really help to get project moving again.

Please contact Dave at h.a.r.d@mail.com

Hello Sam,

Transmission brake looks the same as my setup on the 1929 minor. I can sent you or Dave pictures if that helps.

Thanks Halbe.

I am sure Dave would find your pictures really useful. Could you email the pictures directly to Dave please?

Knowing the very high restoration standards you set I would also be very interested to see your pictures please. I will send you an email directly.

And here are photos of 2M/0687 brake;
Note the brake lever needs to be bent back a bit to clear the tank (one of several M type features!)

Thanks John. It looks as though the main challenge for Dave is to find one of these -

I'm not sure where he resides Sam, but I think the prewar minor register could help him there.

Thanks John. I have tried the Pre War Minor Register as you suggest on Dave's behalf and there have been several very helpful replies.

There is one mystery. Dave's gearbox looks like this -

So far nobody seems to know what the ''L' shaped steel rod is for. It obviously does not relate to the other parts which Dave has and yet I have pictures of a number of gearboxes fit with this feature.

Thanks Geoff. I do not recognise the parts pictured but I am not familiar with the transmission brake. This is the relevant page from the OHC Minor parts list.

I notice two different versions of the transmission brake mechanism.

Dave's parts seem to be for the version on the left.

Dave can be contacted at h.a.r.d@mail.com
