There is a guy over there in the UK I have spoken to who makes brackets mainly for T Types but I see he has a couple of J type listed as well. I have sent you a PM with his details.

Andrew, I will make a few (perhaps 10 pairs) if there's a collective requirement. I'll need the actual bracket and or an accurate drawing to work from.

Ian, if Roby can sort out a bracket for Andrew then that's great no problem; I've had a couple of chaps enquire about some more so it may be a goer ... however, I'm more intrigued to know what a 'PM' is Ian??

PM = private message

Effectively it is just an email but using the site rather than an email address.

Update; I'm in the process now of making these bracing brackets and the x-member between each side too

I have now completed 5 sets of these bracing brackets (3 pieces per set).
2 sets are already spoken for by Harry Neilson and Chris Dancey

I'm no expert but could yours be on the wrong way around Bruce? Never seen one cranked before and it doesn't really need to be!

Chris,
The fore-aft location of the Hartford dampers was determined by their arm alignment to the spring fitting beneath, hence the requirement to position the cross-member as shown and the consequential need to crank it to clear the rear of the axle - see below:

Hopefully this clarifies the installation ...... it's a result of being a 'die-hard' car design and development engineer!!

Actually Chris, It's a design supplied by, and has been for years, Sports & Vintage for converting P Types to Hartford. As a lay person I would have guessed it's more rigid than the old J Type one. after all, the actual point on which the J one mounts the damper is rather "flapping in the breeze" isn't it?

Perhaps as a matter of interest, there is a similar arrangement including a cranked cross member for the rear Hartford shock absorbers fitted as standard to the K type chassis.

Ok Chris, so the cranked was/is for the P which I didn't know and didn't realise you were referring to a PB. I made these for the D,J and F's alone.
Andrew, I've made you an odd bracket to replace the one that shows a high level of moth rust. Email me offline
