Timothy, George Eagle is best placed to deal with this and I am sure he would very much like to have scans of the pictures and sales receipt.
The register records this car as L0533 with the present Australian owner since 1980. He is a subscriber to this Forum (since 2012) but has not made any postings, but hopefully can be alerted to the situation.
There is no reference in the records to an owner named Reynolds, but then again the known details of this car's manufacture and factory delivery arrangements are rather sparse!

Hello, Tim.
Dick Morbey contacted me recently with a query regarding L0 355, apparently I am listed as a previous owner of this car although I couldn’t remember the registration number, ( it was a long time ago in the mid 1970s.) Just seems an incredible coincidence that you have a sales receipt for this car particularly as I was also a previous owner of your F1 salonette ! I am wondering whether, as a matter of interest, the invoice had come through me ?
Just interested, that’s all.
Best regards,
Chris |

Tim, any chance of sharing the pictures here for the sake of posterity?
The 'Please read' under 'Seeking information about a picture' expresses it rather well...
...This forum is intended for those who are seeking information about a picture of an MG which they have found or own and should be placed on the first post. A link to a picture is just about acceptable but I would really appreciate the actual picture. Why? Because I intend this to be a repository of pictures of our cars that will be available for all and eventually I would like to add those pictures for which we have sufficient information to the Pictures section once we have reorganised it. If you simply want to trace a car or chassis number etc, please use the General Information forum. Nick

Hi All, I see there is now a reference to L0355 by Chris. The original reference was for L0533 which is my car and now lives in Sydney, Aust.
Would love to have those documents Tim if you are happy to part with them and they are for my vehicle as I don’t have very much early info on the car. By the way is Chris, Chris Dew by any chance?

Hello Chris. What a coincidence you owning both F 0340 and L 0533.When did you own the L was it after 1978 when I bought F 0340 from you,or before?. L 0533 was owned in 1948 by Mr.Reynolds a family friend who's wife is living in Marlborough and is now in her mid 90's.When her husband died she gave me the sales receipt and photo's knowing I was keen on MG's. Best wishes,Tim.

Hello Tim and Rob.
As far as I remember, I had this L type about 1973/74. I also had another L type at this time, I only remember the regististration number of that one began with the letters VD.
Best regards,
Chris ( Harrill) |

L0533
Hi Chris, Do you recollect the state of the car when you had it? I am now aware that in December 1948 it was a red L1 body with original engine, 859.AL. By the time it got to me it had an L2 body which i believe came from Barry Walker but he could not remember the vehicle from which it came, and was green.
I think, but am no way sure, that L0533 had a severe crash sometime which required a new engine (the present one 867.AC) and at that time was converted to a replica L2. I still have the longer L1 chassis. Any recollections would be appreciated.
Regards Rob |
