Just a speculative enquiry for now, but is anyone making alloy brake backplates for 8” brakes?

Ok, I have never compared the two but have you looked at whether the Morris cowley backplates have any possibilities? Same origins so may be a good start. I do have some cowley ones so can help with dimensions

I photographed this example some time ago.





They are mentioned in a John Wrigley spares list from 1957. At the time a set of four of these aluminium back plates would have cost a little more than an average UK weekly wage.

I rather like those. Certainly much nicer than the pressed steel variety with the usual fatigue cracks. Do they use the standard 8" shoes and drum?
