What a fabulous car. I first saw it when it was owned by S H Richardson of Staines.
The car was purchased by Colin Tieche who rebuilt it to a very high standard and then raced it. The car was as expected very fast. I recall Colin overturned the car, repaired it and raced again but on standard sized tyres.
Now if only I could buy it.........! |

One of the great all time MG's. A car I have driven often, worked on and looked after for Colin. In his ownership it was always incredibly quick but at speed it was not a car for the faint hearted ! It was also very reliable which was a credit to Colins engineering skills. I can remember on one occasion he piled it high with cases and drove it right up to Scandinavia and back on holiday. It did not miss a beat. It will be interesting to see if it sells in the current climate. I have sent the info on to Colin.

Sold for just under £256K - including premium. Wonder if it will stay in the UK?

I do not know who purchased the J4 but I have been told it will be staying in the UK, I have also been told that the NE, which was also at the same sale, will be going to Ireland.

Hi Teifion
Well done on buying this truly great J4. Previous owner Colin Tieche really set the standard both as to the superb rebuild and also the way he raced it. The car was fast!
It will be great to see it out again after so many years..

Hi George, Thanks for your message, much appreciated - hope it all went well at Peter’s today. Yes it would be nice to speak with Colin about the car as his knowledge of it would be v.helpful. It was also previously owned by Lord Chesham, a close relative of the Duke of Devonshire, as Chatsworth is near to us I’m hoping they might also fill in a gap or two. Best Teifion.
