I’m looking for an original Smiths 80mph speedometer face in decent condition. I only need the face but happy to buy a damaged or incomplete speedo as long as the face is ok. Please email me at ianholmes251@hotmail.co.uk if you can help. Many thanks, Ian.

I still have some overlay decals that are exactly like the picture. They are an adhesive backed vinyl, heavy duty and impervious to moisture. US $15 each.

Hi Lew,

Thank you very much for your reply. I really want an original face as its to go in an original, unrestored car. If an original one doesn’t materialise I’ll be in touch.

Best wishes,
Ian.

Just for comparison sake, here's an image of the overlay.

Ian, is the face in the picture an example or the one you want to replace? The reason I ask is because I have found that gentle cleaning can sometimes produce a very pleasing result.

In the example above I very gently cleaned the face with a cotton bud dipped in "3 in 1" oil. I like the fact it still looks its age. The bezel is a replacement.

Hi Sam,

The photo is an example of the type I’m looking for. I don’t have a face for the speedo at the moment. I can’t believe how nicely your speedo face cleaned up. What did you use to clean it out of interest?

Thanks, Ian.

I simply used '3 in 1' oil very gently.
