Can anyone identify what MG this chassis plate came off? It has been in my collection of bits and pieces for years.

Ian, this may be a 'non-original' plate, or at least non-Triple-M?

No model type is shown (it is usually pre-etched to the LHS of the space reserved for the chassis number) The letters after the engine number would normally appear in reverse order (AF,AP etc)

If the chassis number IS 1197, then Triple-M candidates might include these:
M Type: CM1197 Engine No. MG996A
F1197 Engine No. 1494BF
PA1197 Engine No. Engine No. 1454AP

Searching against engine number 1093 gives us the following chassis numbers:
F0831
J2470
NA0865
PA0839
2M1330

None of which tally with this plate!

And the stampings do look a bit home made .....
