Hi!

Anyone on here have copies of the Autocar and the Light Car & Cycle Car magazine reports for the 1931 Double Twelve race, please?

Also, anyone know who hid behind 'Boanerges', columnist for Motor Sport in the 1930s?

Thanks!

Not that, but I do have this photo. It was given to me by Jim Simpson, a 50 year employee of MG, and the 14 year old boy third from the right in the front row. This was taken at the factory after the return of the cars from the race.

Brilliant, thanks, Lew! Can anyone else identify any of the crowd other than the usual suspects?

Jim Simpson told me that the management was so pleased that they gathered the whole factory out for a group photo. This photo was published in the local newspaper, but sadly he only gave me the photo clipping not the whole article. When I flew Jim over for the 2001 MG International, he left a large number of clippings and artwork from his 50 years at the factory.

The identity of Boanerges seems to be lost in the mists of time. He's one of several inter-war scribes I - and others - would like to identify!

Possibly someone moonlighting from another publication - or even (like Harry Milne, Verglas and Overdrive) a 'portmanteau' for several contributors.

Ah, yes, thank you, Richard! I had come across that topic and figured 'our' Vitesse and Vitesse2 were one and the same ;-)

And did you notice, Cathelijne, who "The Blower" was. Seems to have been two or three different people.
