Anybody prepared to suggest a chroming Company with a good reputation in the Essex/Suffolk area.
I could also travel into London having used The London Chroming Co in the past, however thought that I would try to find a company nearer to home.
I have a Brass radiator shell that has never been plated, ie straight from the metal man, therefore I am reluctant to entrust it to a carraige company that might wreck it in transit.
If I make a crate to ship it in, it would end up being heavier than the shell.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Not in your area or in London as such, but I can thoroughly recommend Premier Plating Lancaster Road Cressex High Wycombe Bucks http://www.premier-plating.co.uk/
Where abouts are you in Suffolk? I have a brother in Hartest nr Bury St Edmunds and might be able to arrange a shuttle service to High Wycombe, which is near my home!

Russ,
Suggest you give Mike Linward a call (details in the Contacts section of this website). He has had good work from a plating company near him and I think it is in Essex.

Russ,
My plater is hundreds of miles away from you in Glasgow and I have built up a good relationship with him. A general rule I have picked up from him is to only take in perfectly sound and straight components. I have recently dropped of a whole load of stuff from the M Type for de-chroming so I can repair any splits, remove any dents and preliminary polish before taking them back for plating. You want to see some of the rubbish other (non MG!) owners take in and expect them to come out of tank pristine. Dents are a particular problem - if the polisher attempts to take these out with his mop, or worse still a linisher, the base metal can become paper thin.
Cheers
