This image is subject to copyright, so I probably should not post it here ???, but I am willing to risk it. It is from 1981. Here is "MaGoo", a most popular M-Type around Sydney for many years.

Here is 2M 1524 again.

This example below was photographed with the disgruntled owner just after crashing through the window of a trophy shop.

The note with the image above is "owned by Charlie Jackson."

The two cars above - neither are M1524, we know that for certain.

You can read about both cars on the Pre-War MG Register of Australia website.

Here is M1524 today, after a spin around the block for a little "fresh air" through the fossil fuel burner !.

Hi Keith,
I am still having issues with the gravity feed to the carb, so I am going to try a bottom feed float bowl & brass carb.
It would be easy to just fit a pump - but that's not for me - yet !.

Cheers

Is it just on the hills that you have a problem or is fuel not getting through sufficiently on the level? Remember that if you are going up a steep hill you have a float bowl full of fuel when you start so it only shows after the float bowl has emptied. Once you return to the level the float bowl should refill immediately and any fuel starvation will go too.

The flow appears to be not up to the demand. There is no breather on the tank itself, only a tiny hole (1mm) in a non-standard fuel cap. It helps to have more than 5 litres in the tank. It stops after around 3 miles at 25 miles/hr & then the float bowl is empty. The needle valve appears to stick closed with the low pressure of gravity feed ?. I need to do a few more experiments with flow rate to find the issue.

For those of you interested in the earliest MG M-Types in Australia, you can read about Charlie & Eva Jackson here:- http://prewar.mgcc.info/charlie-jackson-australias-first-mg-racer/

And for the Jim Cuming M-Type here:- http://prewar.mgcc.info/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/First-Aust-M-type.pdf

You can decide for yourself who was the first to compete in an MG M-Type in Australia and who was the first to win.
