Yes, even MG's are Chinese now. This leads into a curiosity arising from a new trolley jack of compact size to fit below my J2. It is a "Hilka" (but made in China) looks OK and works but there was so much slop in the operating pins and pivots that in a restricted space half the effective lever movement was lost. In dismantling it I was surprised to find that the main side frame securing nuts were not metric and I had to use a 7/16" BSF / 3/8" Whit socket. Curious? There was at least 1mm clearance on the clevis pins which added up to a lot of free movement. I modified some bolts to suit and now have near zero clearance and full range of lever action. Simon C.
Yes, Nigel, that's right but we don't have a lot of choice these days. But I still have and use a 60 year old English made hydraulic bottle jack (and battery charger). Simon C.
