So there are no chassis records for F0452. I guess this leaves me free to choose a colour scheme. What were the options to original buyers? Did MG paint cars to a customers spec or would a customer have to choose from MG options? If options - what were they?

Color is one of those subject.
Usualy greeted by Oh Dear......
The basic colors available are covered in the link below.

From the factory you could special order most colors.
Two tone options included.

Yes, having looked through a few threads I realise colour choice and specification is a favourite topic...
As has been pointed out to me now, the original colour is stamped on the bonnet hinge. This stamping has the correct chassis number and "BK" Black I assume. The front axle looks like it was black originally too.
