I am looking for one or two nuts or a supplier of the special nut that fits the output shaft of an ENV75 pre-selector gearbox and the diff flange nut of some Morris and other diffs. It apparently is also the same thread as at both ends of a mini crankshaft.
The thread is a 5/8" x 16 tpi Whitworth form and a 9/16 bsf or 1/2 w spanner will fit it. This is a special purpose thread as normally 5/8 bsf has 14 tpi & 5/8 whit. 11 tpi.
The photo below shows an example.

Does anyone have one to spare or know of a supplier?

Simon,

Very many thanks, it does look good; I have put in an enquiry with them.

You have once again proved the value of this forum.

Hello, Nigel.

I have noted that the rear drive flange securing nuts on two MG and one Lagonda preselectors I have ( type 75 E.N.V. ) are all 1/2” B.S.F. confirmed in Peter Meyers Workshop Manual for the type 75. I was therefore surprised that the thread sizes on your boxes are a 5/8 size !

You live and learn !

Regards,

Chris

Riley boxes; yes I was surprised but note that Peter does caution that there are many variations, not all noted in his book.

You were also surprised at the bronze bus bar actuating lever cover.

I have found my nuts.

Following Simon's link was productive. The nuts are deep and may well need turning down to fit, but the thread is correct.

For information, I am also informed that this size MIGHT be the same as on manual ENV boxes.
