I'm currently reading All in Good Time, the autobiography of George Daniels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Daniels (the "watchmaker" should be in brackets, and be part of the link - I don't know what went wrong). He also was a keen vintage Bentley owner, and I've just discovered that his first car was J3647, which he bought in 1952, and suffered a broken crankshaft within two hours of purchase. On reading this, I immediately checked the register, and see that it is listed in my 2014 edition (yes, I know...) as being known to be on sale in 2006. Perhaps the present owner would be interested in this snippet of its history, if he/she is out there.

Here's the photo from the book:

Colin and Forum:

Great period photograph.
The 2020 printed Register has the same entry.
So, this time you are none the worse off.
The website entry offers a photo and a few more details.

Yes, the register photo has cycle wings, and painted red. In that photo it has lost the lovely horns, and spot light. In the photo above, it appears to have been fitted with a radio, and from the angle of the nearside headlamp, presumably still dips by shutting off the offside one.

The clocks made by George Daniels were I believe much sought after and probably very expensive!

He certainly owned some fine cars including the blown 4.5 litre red single seater Bentley with loads of Brooklands history etc. I recall he also had a superb straight 8 pre-war Alfa Romeo - not sure about the model.

George Daniels was an excellent watchmaker . I will never forget the meeting with him at the watch fair in Basel / Switzerland.

I believe the forum software does not allow brackets in URLs as this artifice can be used to disguise a rogue link. I have edited the link that now takes you to the parent page from which the exact article can be selected. Not perfect, but better than nothing.
