Off the subject a bit, but does anyone remember ever seeing this pub sign which I bought a few years ago for my garage. The gentleman is identified as Hugh Mason 1819 - 1886. I assume the pub was in Oxford?

More likely to have come from Ashton under Lyne, and refers to the Oxford Cotton Mills.

He is remembered locally for seeing his workers through the cotton famine without reducing wages, my g grandfather was an engineer in his mills, and my g mother mentioned him a few times.

Ian - Thank you for the information regarding Mr. Mason. The buildings must be the old mills. Yes, Airline Coupe PB334, my favorite.
