A quick update - entries are pouring in and I will get the entry list out as soon as I get a moment - hopefully this week. Latest are Colin McLachlan, Colin Murrell, Steffi Broch and Colin Bird.
I'll be bringing my Minor and also this:

This is the prototype Boeing 777X displaying at the Dubai Airshow last November - its public debut. I'll be flying into Farnborough and supporting the aircraft as the airshow starts the Monday after PWP and will be arriving the week beforehand for the public display approval flights, etc., so our trip will bookend the PWP weekend. If anyone is planning to be at Farnborough on the public day, Friday 22nd July, let me know and I'll be delighted to meet up and show you around it. |

Very impressive Ian. At about 40 seconds I almost thought it was going to barrel roll!

Ian, were you flying it? Whatever ........ impressive! I've always been a aeroplane enthusiast since school days - eventually going solo in my University Air Squadron-RAFVR-days, before I had a driving licence .... and my 1st car PB0564..!!

That wingover was pretty heart-stopping, not to mention that insane takeoff! I wasn't flying it. My part in things is I work for Rockwell Collins who have the contract to provide the fly-by-wire system and I'm the sucker whose embedded with Boeing here in Seattle to take all the s**t when it doesn't work!
I restrict my flying to Tiger Moths, but well remember those wonderful Chippy flights when I was in the ATC back in the sixties, not to mention the heavy old open cockpit T21 Sedbergh gliders, known as barges.
Incidentally, I should hear from the BBMF shortly if we have their air support again for PWP this year. With RIAT the same weekend, I'm hopeful, as the Lanc should be nearby at Fairford, and I'd love to get it again. The last time we had it was the inaugural PWP in 2011, when it came across from Fairford. Not sure what was better - the sight or the sound ...
Now to see if I can get the 777X to Prescott. Now THAT would sort out all those local NIMBY's who complain about the noise! |

It is indeed a very quiet aeroplane. However, quiet, when we're talking over 500,000 of aluminium and steel propelled by a pair of GE9X's pushing out 134,000 pounds of thrust each, 500 feet over your head is a relative term! |

Not quite like the VC10 that used to go to full power just up the road from our Qatar hotel at 4 a.m. when faced with "only" 4000m!

Saw a Vulcan at Yeovilton in the days when they were anti flash white. Crew chief walked out with it to the runway still connected on the headphones as though he were taking a giant dog for a walk. It used about a 1/3rd of the runway and stood on its tail a bit like Ian's 777 and climbed in that attitude until it was impossible to see in the brilliant blue sky. Very impressive even if it was very light.
Also watched 74 Sqdn Lightning F.1s do a stream take off at Farnborough and the noise seemed to come up my legs rather than into my ears. No ear defenders; maybe that's where my hearing went!
Dave
PS Ian, sorry, we seem to have wandered more than a bit off topic! |

Don't worry about that Dave! I also remember the Lightnings - all 16 of them. Climbing in a vertical stack straight off the end of the runway towards the stratosphere in full reheat. Never to be forgotten! |

Finally found time to work on the entry list. Here's the MMM entry so far - 19 and counting. 234 climbs have already been booked, so I will be throttling down the bookable climbs from three to two in the not too distant future, so if you want three climbs, may I suggest you think about entering soon.
If you think you have entered but don't see your make in lights below, let me know immediately! You can enter at http://prewarprescott.com/?page_id=161.
