Can anyone help with current whereabouts of these two? My brother owned both in the late 60's early 70's and I owned OJ 6978 after him. They have both disappeared rather, J2863 is believed to be in the USA and last recorded owner of J2759 (MG 2099) was in Essex I understand. Brother sold J2759 to Barry Bone along with a PA engine that he had found in a scrap PA in Axminster. It was we discovered later an Ex Police car, Nick was staying in a hotel in London and saw a picture of it in the bar, with a police driver. My J2 was sold to a young man and his mother paid for it, on condition he would drop her off at work every day. She was a large lady. I thought she wouldn't fit but the lad was determined she would ....... I often wondered where it went in later years. |

Unfortunately, there is no record of J2863 in the North American MMM Register database.

Oh that is a shame, I hope it has survived somewhere. Thank you for looking. Simon |

MG 2099 looks like it might be still around with a new logbook four years ago.
That sounds promising then, thank you for looking. Hopefully someone will know of it in UK. The picture I sent in to go on the register record was taken just after we had collected it. |

Definitely still around:
OJ 6978 however is not known to DVLA.

Can DVLA be asked for ownership details? I would like to trace J2759 MG 2099 and contact the owner. I hoped someone on here might know it, but no luck. |

I have attempted to find the current owner of a vehicle shown on their website but was unsuccessful and had my application returned with a flimsy reason for rejection.(not an MG)
I remember filling out a specific form with a small fee. |

I think they used to forward letters to current owners leaving it up to them if they made contact or not however, I think this service is no longer offered.

Yes, as you can see from the letter, they would not even do that.

Thanks for your replies, that is a shame that the DVLA have become even less helpful. If I had an area at least, I would try an ad in a local paper. I suppose a youth could try facebook? |

Well Nigel, it looks as though 6 years ago they might have, but a lot can happen in 6 years. Shame.

Of course the DVLA will always sell you this information if you want it for running a carp park with ANPR. So much for data protection - or causing distress. Ian Thomson |

My experience with the DVLA is that they would take 3 letters, 4 emails and a cheque for £50 to tell you 6 months later that they can't help. They are worse than useless at the moment. I hope some news of J2759 (MG 2099) in the UK will turn up. I have had lots of photographs from Jim Booth in the USA of progress on OJ 6978 , he bought it in 2017 from the chap I sold it to in 69! It had 45 years dismantled in boxes, shipped to USA when owner emigrated and moved three times. He is making great progress. |
