Can anyone advise on the correct length of the steering column on a C type. I have a completely original unit with 4 spoke steering wheel (no rim), advance / retard mechanism and tape bound column I came across in the store whilst having a recent sort out.

Also have a rear axle case which may be M or C, barn find I purchased for the 12 inch brakes

Hello Richard.
The length of the C-Type steering column on C0294 is 46" from the castle nut at the box to the lock nut at the steering wheel. I believe shorter than the D Type.
The steering wheel is close to the dash board with only knuckle clearance from the Rev Counter.
Original car, original body, so should be correct.

Many thanks Allan, I will see what I have. No doubt it may be D type but C type would be nice!
