Thanks for the kind words, Bernard, and thanks for the vote for Bicester next year. Cat Spoelstra has also let me know that the Dutch MMM contingent are planning to join us there next July.
A quick note to say that PWP ticketing starts on Tuesday and will take two or three days. These tickets will then be sent in bulk to the UK for onward posting. Entries will remain open after Tuesday, but the more entries that can be ticketed next week, the less will be the work after that. So if you are planning to come along but have not entered yet, it would be very helpful to do so or at least let me know by the middle of next week. Thanks. |

Pre-War Prescott is a month tomorrow!
And the MMM entry has just hit the half century - see below. This is a tremendous entry and entries remain open for anyone one wishing to join us. In particular, I am looking for a J1, K2 and K3 for the display and cavalcade and perhaps a Q? I think we have most other models covered. Of the 25 M.G.s in the cavalcade, 15 are MMM cars - annotated by the letter C in the list below.

Pre-War Prescott 2023 is JUST four weeks today! Planning is now almost complete for a truly fabulous weekend and we already have a mouthwatering entry of 200 Edwardian, vintage and pre-war cars, many of which will be joining us for the three-day weekend of rallying, touring, hillclimbing and socializing.
Tickets for all of the weekend’s activities have been individually enveloped and will be shipped to Gotherington next week for onward posting. Meanwhile, entries for all three days remain OPEN. Enter online at http://prewarprescott.com/?page_id=161.
With four weeks to go, we currently have 191 entries for Pre-War Prescott, and 374 climbs booked. Entries include Nick Cook’s wondrous 1907 Stanley Model H 20 HP Gentleman's Speedy Roadster, 14 Minors, 15 Austin 7’s, 50 MMM M.G.’s, 26 M.G. T Types, 8 vintage M.G.’s including Geoff Radford’s historic 18/100 Tigress, 14 Alvises, 5 Bentleys, 5 Vauxhall 30/98’s, 6 Rileys and many more marques and models. And I should not forget that Nick Helliker is bringing his gorgeous 1950 Harrington-bodied AEC coach to grace the Paddock and the Wellington Aviation Museum is bringing a display and a couple of interesting wartime vehicles including a rare RAF signals truck to add to the general atmosphere.
I should also mention that spectators are very welcome at Prescott on Saturday. Tickets can be pre-booked at the link above or obtained at the gate - £10 per person, twelves and under and parking free.
And if you wish to bring your pre-war car, but for any reason cannot commit in advance, you can also turn up and pay at the gate on the day. You will also be able to fill in a form for your MSUK license on the day if you need to. However, you will not receive your free climb and the last few climb tickets will go quickly.
An important reminder to those who have booked for the Sunday runs. We will be holding a Vintage Picnic at the historic Tudor Coughton Court in Warwickshire and fresh farm picnics can be ordered in advance, if you are not bringing your own picnic. If you have not ordered yours yet, you will find the menu and ordering instructions below. Orders MUST be received by 28th June.
Also an important reminder that everyone who is planning to climb the hill on Saturday – and that includes passengers – MUST obtain a MSUK Clubman license and then pre-register with the BOC. These Clubman licenses are completely free but must be renewed annually. Obtain yours at https://apply-rsclubman.motorsportuk.org/landing. Equally important, you will need to print off your licenses and bring them to Prescott where you will be signed in and obtain your wristbands, without which you will not be able to access the hill.
Once you have your licenses, you will need to pre-register with the BOC at https://forms.gle/5hsY3ZBAyavcwrwG6.
It’s a lot of nonsense bureaucracy, but these steps will ensure you enjoy the day with the minimum of fuss.
A highlight of the day will be the MG100 Display and Cavalcade up the hill in the lunch break. Right now, we have 25 historic M.G.’s booked in for the Cavalcade, representing almost every M.G. model from the earliest surviving Bullnose 1925 M.G. 14/28 to a 1980 MGB LE – one of the very last M.G.’s to leave the Abingdon works. We are still looking for the following to complete the MG100 lineup – 14/40, J1, K2, K3, SA, WA, Q. If you own one of these models and would like to join in, please send in your entry el quicko!
Please also don’t forget the Charity Auction in the lunch break. Please bring any quality automobilia, etc. (please no 50p rubbish) that you would like to donate and drop them off at the VMR Marquee in the morning. All proceeds will be donated directly to the RAF Charitable Trust. This is how we can in a small way repay the RAF for sending a Spitfire and a Hurricane to beat up the Paddock at 1425 hrs! On Friday we have 28 cars booked in for the Tour and 35 takers for the Morgan factory visit, with 40 cream teas booked at the Beckford Silk Mill in the afternoon. On Sunday, we have 18 cars entered in the Navigation Rally and another 46 booked for the Scenic Tour, making a very strong entry of 64 cars for the day.
One update to the previously notified plans for Sunday. We had originally planned our Sunday evening Farewell Pub Meet to take place at the Royal Oak at Gretton. However, the Royal Oak will be closed on Sunday evening so we will meet at Ye Olde Hobnails In, at Little Washbourne just north of Prescott. This is the same venue as the Friday Reception. We recommend anyone wishing to dine at the Hobnails on Friday or Sunday evenings to book a table by calling 01242/621259 or e-mailing thehobnails@quality-inns.co.uk.
Finally, the Souvenir Programme is complete and ready for print and Jayne and I are flying Seattle to London, arriving Friday morning 30th June, when VMR HQ will establish at Middleton, Herefordshire for the two weeks running up to the weekend.
If you have any questions about the weekend, simply contact vintageminor@gmail.com for a response by return.
We are both really looking forward to meeting old friends and new over the weekend. See you there!

Ian, I emailed you about this, not realising you’d posted the info here. As I said in my email you say that the MSUK Clubman's licence needs to be printed - surely this can’t be true as it is, after all, a digital licence and so the whole point is that you don’t need a paper copy - it’s on your phone. And if phone signal might be an issue then it’s simply saved as a screenshot photo and thus always accessible, even with no phone signal.
Can you clarify?

Yep, a Jpeg on your phone would suffice. But I didn't want to encourage phone use as there's virtually no coverage at Prescott - just in case anyone thought they could pull up their MSUK e-mail. Then there are those whose phone dies minutes before they get to the sign-on desk. Paper is safer and quicker. |

Thanks, Ian, I just wanted to make sure that BOC weren’t making up their own rules about this.

Apologies to Jeremy Prince who just pointed out to me that I omitted him from the above MMM entry list. He has entered his 1933 J2.
Also, Stephen Rees reports that he will be unable to join us with his J2.

Thank you Ian for confirming my entry, although I realise now I was indeed included on your master Excel list of entries for all makes of vehicles.
I have tried the link to BOC (https://forms.gle/5hsY3ZBAyavcwrwG6 ) in order to register, but it just comes up as invalid. I then spoke to BOC, who told me that it was not necessary to register with them. However, I am reluctant to accept that advice. Please advise. Thank you Jeremy

Morning Jeremy,
I'm speechless! It IS necessary to pre-register with the BOC after you have your MSUK license. That link works for me, but fear not, I have printed off a sheaf of these forms to bring on the day - they will be available at the VMR marquee. Once you have your MSUK license, either print it out or have is saved on your phone ('cos there's scant coverage at Prescott), then bring that and your pre-reg form (if you haven't been able to do it online) to the BOC sign-on desk in the paddock to receive your wrist band and numbered car sticker (so the marshals can work out who you are if you are unconscious!).
Thank God we won't have any of this nonsense to deal with at Pre-War Bicester next July.

John Hicks in Gotherington, a true hero, received the tickets from me this morning and posted them all out - some 200 envelopes. That's all except the recent entries which I am ticketing here and will post next week when we arrive. I'm also bringing a supply of spares for late ticketing in England.
When you receive your tickets, please check they are all present and correct and get hold of me el quicko if not. (Bet you didn't know I was fluent in Spanish.) |

The Pre-War Prescott weekend commences a week today with our Friday Tour. Actually the weekend starts on Thursday evening, as anyone arriving on Thursday is warmly invited to the Shutters in Gotherington in the evening.
Jayne and I arrived in England last Friday and have been busy finalizing plans. Entries have continued to arrive and have all been ticketed so far. If you have not received your tickets yet (unless you entered very recently), but have not received your tickets yet, please let me know immediately.
If you have not entered but would like to do so, there’s plenty of time left to get you sorted. Tickets for last minute entries will be enveloped and positioned with the gate marshals for collection on the day, or can be collected at the Shutters on Thursday night or the Hobnails on Friday night.
If for any reason you cannot pre-enter, then you are very welcome to simply turn up on Saturday and pay at the gate. I will have a FEW spare climb tickets, but all pre-booked entries receive a guaranteed free climb and Programme.
Numbers right now:
29 cars on Friday, 35 people for the Morgan tour, 42 cream teas at Beckford Silk Mill 198 cars at Prescott (plus a lot of interesting spectators’ cars), 372 climbs, 27 M.G.’s entered in the MG100 Display and Cavalcade 73 cars on Sunday – 24 on the Nav Rally and 49 on the Scenic Tour, and 123 cream teas at Stanway House
Important things to know at this stage:
Both the Friday and Sunday tours start from Ye Olde Hobnails, Little Washbourne – between 8 and 9. Full breakfasts available. Evenings will be at the Shutters Thursday night, the Hobnails Friday and Sunday nights and the Gardeners Arms, Alderton on Saturday night. If you would like to dine in the evening at the Hobnails, call Jack or Millie on 01242/621259 to make a table booking. No need to book for the Shutters or the Gardeners.
If you are on either the Friday or Sunday Tours, and cannot make the start, I can e-mail you the corresponding Scenic Tour Handbook in advance and you can join the route at your convenience.
All those entered in the MG100 Display and Cavalcade will be e-mailed separately with instructions over the next few days.
All those who have generously volunteered to marshal will be e-mailed separately over the next few days.
All those camping will need to pitch camp along the stone track at the lane edge of the Orchard (i.e. between the Bugatti Trust and the farm) to avoid getting mixed up with the Peugeot Club who have Prescott on Sunday and who will be camping further up the Orchard, starting Saturday night.
Anyone climbing the hill – both drivers and passengers - will need to obtain a (free) RS Clubman licence from https://apply-rsclubman.motorsportuk.org/landing and then pre-register with the BOC at https://forms.gle/5hsY3ZBAyavcwrwG6.
The Saturday lunchtime charity auction. Please bring any unwanted but quality automobilia or other items to the VMR marquee in the morning. We already have some super items donated including a cottage weekend for two in the North Yorkshire dales (https://www.northviewcottages.co.uk/the-duck-s-nest), generously donated by Paul and Alison Maddox and the Tiger Moth flight donated once again by Chris Thompson of Finest Hour Experiences (https://www.finesthourexperiences.co.uk/)
The Spitfire and Hurricane are scheduled to arrive at 14-25 hrs. The hill will close for a shot while for their display.
Those entering the Navigation Rally on Sunday will need OS map 150 – any edition.
If you have not yet ordered a farm shop picnic for Sunday, but would like to do so, get in touch immediately. There is also a café and coffee shop at Coughton Court, so nobody will have to miss out!
If you have any questions whatsoever regarding the weekend, simply reply to this e-mail. The more we can sort out before the weekend, the smoother things will run.
Jayne and I will be heading over from our Ludlow cottage on Thursday and we will be staying in Bredons Norton. We will be at all four evening pub meets - probably with our blue Minor fabric saloon.
See you soon,
Ian

My daughter and my wife waiting to do the MG100 cavalcade up the hill. Two minutes later, the heavens opened and after sitting in the car for at least five minutes under an umbrella they got to go. By the time they did the hill climb and came back down they were so wet we decided enough was enough and packed up and came back to the house where we all had to change into dry clothes.
But good fun, nonetheless.
Many thanks to Ian for a great event.
