That's awesome, Simon! - many many thanks indeed! ![](images/icon_smile_shock.gif)
Is the bottom image a continuation of the top one? If it is, can you upload another version of the bottom image showing the dates against each event?
Are there any photos of J4103 within the publication?

So, taking the four events that I listed in my original post, J. H. Hibbitt used the following cars on each of them...
Midget J2 J4103 (red with swept wings), registration AUW 161...
5th May 1934 SUNBAC Inter-Club Team Trial, Buxton (NWLMC 'A' Team with E. H. Dimond)
6th May 1934 GWMC Spring Trial (1st Class Award & Team Prize with E. H. Dimond & D. MacLean)
4th August 1934 MSAC London to Barnstaple Trial (2nd Class Award)
Magnette NA NA0649 (black with red upholstery), registration BLP 484...
4th May 1935 MGCC Abingdon to Abingdon Trial
Does anybody have any details of the 1935 MGCC Abingdon Trial?

I had intended posting a reply to the various questions raised yesterday, but I was away from home riding on a train all day. Now all the contributors have done a splendid job in sorting out most of this matter successfully. Hibbit's NA 0649 (BLP 484) seems to have survived. It is certainly in the latest edition of the Register.

Thank you, Colin - that's great to know that one car (at least) still survives to this day.
I had been expecting a reply from yourself since George mentioned you were the pre-war trials expert. I agree however, everyone has done a superb job of answering my questions in your absence. Hope you enjoyed your train ride?
Incidentally, do you have any results from the 1935 Abingdon, or even any photos of J4103 (AUW 161) on the 1934 Buxton, Spring or Barnstaple, or NA0649 (BLP 484) on the 1935 Abingdon?

A picture of the car is in the Light Car & Cycle Car on the 1934 July Trial, and on the Sporting in 1934 was in Cowbourne's collection! Could not find it in the Beaulieu pictures online!

There is one important question which hasn't been asked yet- what inspired the question in the first place? |

The Oakham one - actually born 1909 - looks unlikely as he was the son of a coal porter at a coal merchant, although I can't trace anything on him after the 1911 census. The St Pancras chap looks more likely - he was the son of a builder's merchant according to the 1911 census and seems to have been in the same sort of business in 1939. Looks to have died in Broadstairs in 1986, estate just over £60K. |
