I found the body tag shown among my unused parts. It looks original. If the current caretaker would care to step forward, I will see that they receive the tag.

Lew, if it was an original one, would it not have fixing holes drilled in it?

Odd there are no holes for attaching.....
And I thought the body number would be stamped, not etched.
Also, This would be for a later J2, as earlier ones had the Carbodies plate behind the seat. Did the body tags change at swept wing time?

I don't know. It was in my other brass tags. I have no idea from whence it came, but I have no use for it and happy to give it to the rightful owner. Maybe it was made up when I restored my J2 many years ago.

Lew, as far as is known, body types B225 were used in: J2 - 2 seater Some body numbers have been recorded but will take an effort to unearth! J3 - 2 seater (No record of which body numbers were used for the J3s) F2 - 2 seater (Ditto for the F2s)

This plate is for a swept wing car (my car, the last cycle wing one, has an aluminium Carbodies plate) and didn’t Morris Bodies make the bodies for them? The plate is of the same style as used on P Types and later. The subject was touched on in this thread - https://www.triple-mregister.org/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21647&SearchTerms=Body,number
Looking back at some notes made in the 1970s of cars here in Norn Iron I see that J4154 had body number B225 321/1425 and J4340 had B225 355/2119 so I think we can be sure it’s a swept wing J2 plate as the F2s and J3 had ceased production before the swept wing J2 was introduced. Simon J J3437 |
