Does anyone know of a source for 2ba clinch nuts . Not aerolite but those suitable for thin panel work to take ltd fasteners ?

Could you perhaps use M5 Lift The Dot studs with M5 clinch nuts?

as far as I know ltd studs have 2ba thread . perhaps I could run a 2ba tap through the M5 if its fine or drill and tap m4

2BA thread is really close to UNF 10-32, enough that I find the threads interchangeable. Pretty easy to find 10-32 clinch nuts. You should be able to get either a clinch nut or threaded rivet in the UK.

I have two sorts of 2BA clinch nuts 'in stock' - round base and hexagon base - how many do you need?
