Hi all, Slowly trying to get all my bits together for my MG PA project (which is both time consuming and expensive in equal measure!) and thought I’d look at some eye-candy items. I was looking at getting a replica period tax disc made up for Dec 1934 and wondered what the nominal “tax” horse-power bracket was for the PA? Of course many of the cars of the era were sold under what nominal HP it was according to the old Gov taxation formula. Using the old RAC formula, I calculated 8.1 HP which would be in keeping with the Morris 8 in terms of capacity. I should think this figure correct, but it would be nice to get it confirmed by someone out there that has either access to old sales brochures or has a keen knowledge of such matters. Regards, Bruce
I think that the actual RAC Rating for the 847cc cars was 8.05. I is such an odd number that it stuck in my mind, but I have never considered ut important enough to find out how it was arrived at.
