From the 2022 Triple-M Register Yearbook

From the Autocar website - https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/mg-4-xpower-hot-hatch-ev-gets-429bhp-and-239-mile-range
428 bhp, 443 lb ft, 0-60 mph in 3.8 secs, £36,500!
OK, we didn’t get the open two-seater, but still …
When I wrote that introduction to the genesis of the J1 and J2 Midgets last year, I really didn’t think that MG Motors would/could produce such an incredible motor car. But with performance like that, is it actually too fast for ordinary road use? With no gearbox, no clutch and maximum torque from the get go, I think it would scare the bejesus out of me! Would others fancy a car that quick as a daily driver?

Which raises the philosophical question: what is an MG?

Personally, I don’t see anything philosophical about the question - an MG is simply a motor car manufactured by the owner of the MG name/brand/marque. The current owner is SAIC; previous owners include MG Rover, Austin Rover, BMW, British Leyland, BMC, etc., etc.

Not an exhaustive list of owners, Ian. Note the “etc., etc.”
