There is a listing for an unrestored but running cycle wing J2 on E-Bay, item no. 256267718238. No chassis number is quoted but re registration number is TG 6582 but I could not find it on the register. Does anyone have any more detailed information ? I have no connection with the seller who says that the last owner had it for 70 years.

I think it was the one that was for sale at September Beaulieu it would be a nice project but at about half the price that was being asked for it. |

Correct, this was on display at Beaulieu.
This is a shabby but complete J2 although with P type dashboard and a few other oddities.
It was being advertised for £22,000 and I had a good look around it before telling the vendor it was a £12,000 car at todays prices. Great project but commercially, completely unviable to restore at this silly price.

Yes I agree entirely about the price, far too high. I have found out that it is claimed to be on standard bores and journals and one must assume it is a standard crank although the vendor has no idea on this matter. My point in posting this item was to see if anyone knew the history of the car as I could not spot it on the register. As with all these things "caveat emptor"

If still on std bores & journals it must have had a very quiet life. The Reg does not feature on my list (well Dad's list) of J2s he knew of since the early 50s, or the list of very long term owners (the majority of which he crossed paths with over the years). So, it could be a genuine sleeper. Did you get a Chassis Number Rich?

I seem to remember there was an item on it in their discoveries when it was recovered from its original resting place. |

Could our J2 Registrar perhaps contact the vendor to find out the chassis ( and engine) numbers?

This car failed to sell at auction about this time last year with a £12,000 high bid - a lot of money considering the buyer's premium and VAT etc which would have added another 31% !!
