This splendid movie of Billy Cotton at Brooklands - https://youtu.be/Lz_7SIGTMtM?si=ycU2QcQ9ozUHTdv9 - shows how he manoeuvred himself into the car (at 1 min 50sec) but doesn’t show him extracting himself!
Great event splendid organisation by all. Liked the photos of how to mount a racing M.G. The Cotton film shows the dress code necessary. Long socks to control the flares, polished leather shoes, followed with a cautious entry facilitated by a cunning twist of the body, once the legs are in place. The key is sliding in from the passengers side.
Will send this link to my 'son and heir' who was very disappointed that he not comfortably mount our C Type last weekend at Brooklands.
Yes, Simon. Billy Cotton displays all the skills demanded of Ist World War pilots who were expected to fit into tiny aircraft cockpits. ( He was an ex-RFC pilot.) Chris
