This is just a question which has puzzled me for a while but can a D/J type sump be used on an M-type without anything apart from pipes being modified?

This picture of the underside of an M-type shows a J2 sump apparently having no problems in a standard M-type.



Perhaps it is the J2 which cannot take the M-type sump (or can it?) which has given rise to confusion.
