I have recently unearthed an original 'MG Car Company Ltd' brass body plate stamped Body Type B270 & Body No 990/7150.
Can anyone be good enough to confirm whether this is MMM or perhaps it may be T Type?
I do not have such a plate on my J2 but do not want to fit this one if it is not appropriate.
I would be most grateful for any info leading to its identification.

I do not believe that is a body type number from a Triple-M car as B270 is not among those listed in the Triple-M Register Listing. Perhaps from a pre-war S, V, W or TA or TB. A J2 would have a body type number of B225.

I have two F type plates that both have Body Type B251

I have two TC Plates that both have B280

That is from a Quick look. i will have others.

looks like B270 may be TA but I cannot confirm this.

Body Type B270 is later TA (early TAs had Body Type B269)

Many thanks to all the above for the very informative answers, John James in particular. As a result,this plate has already found an appropriate new owner, and I am now seeking a B269 one for my early TA and one for my J2!
