Just received from Tony Brier:

quote:
Hello Peter,

PA 2208 must have been owned by me before I started the restoration business and possibly in the seventies, but I
still cannot recall it. I specialised in T - Types mainly TF but also did Alvis, Austin Seven, Lagonda, Y -Type etc.

I was a member of the Octagon Club and the MG CC T register but not the Triple-M Register.

Now I continue my passion for aircraft and have nearly completed the restoration of a Bucker Bu 181 Bestmann
and currently fly an Auster 5 that I restored earlier and which was used in the WW 2 D Day landings.

I still have a couple of TF needing restoration which I had planned to rebuild for my son and daughter but they are
not interested in "funny old cars" sad!

Kind regards,

Tony

A question for the members of the Triple-M Register, Tony says he was not a member of the Triple-M Register. How was it possible that he was listed as the owner in '82/'86 if not a member, is it possible that he was listed as an owner without being a member?

It only struck me a few days back that this is all going back say 40 years, that's an awful long way back to have vivid memories of things such as this for anyone!

Thanks.

Peter,

Tony Brier was in fact listed as 'the last known owner' of PA2208 up to and including 2000, (2001 listed Monty Isaacs as 'the last known owner'), this is because Tony did not tell the Register when he sold the car and the new owner did not tell us that he had purchased it. As far as we are concerned we thought Tony Brier owned the car until Monty Isaacs purchased it.

A person does not have to be a member of the Register to have his car listed. The Register listing lists all known cars and the last known owner, who might not be the current owner if we have not been told of any change of ownership. So please will everyone tell the Register when they sell or buy a Triple-M car, this will enable our records to be kept up to date.

Peter.

Peter,

How exactly should people - especially non-members, inform the register of a sale or purchase?

I've been a member for 28 years and am not even certain how to inform the register. I can dash a note off to Robin, but is that sufficient? I have just recently sold J2247 to Hugh Barnes (Orstin), so this is a timely topic for me.

Bit of a late entry, I've been in Nevada for much of this exchange so apologies in advance. Simple explanation: the cars are the register members not the owners. The register number isued lives withe car as long as it is known to survive and passes through ownership with the car. As Peter says, the printed register is a pretty simple listing of all known genuine cars and their respective last known owners. If an existing owner sells a car, please let me know via email, preferably with details of the new owner. If someone buys or finds a car, same applies.

Any queries, please let me know.

Kind regards

Robin

Lew,

Yes, 'dashing a note off to Robin' (our Registrar) is the correct way, but there are several ways that people can notify the Register.

1) Idealy people should contact our Registrar when they buy or sell a car, his contact details are listed under 'Contacts' on this website, printed in the 'Yearbook' and the 'Bulletin'.

2) They can register or update details of their car on-line via this website (Register your car) .

3) They can download a 'Registration and Update' form from this website (Register your car), fill it in and send to the Registrar.

I know this only partly answers your question. What do owners that do not know of the Triple-M Register do? Hopefully they will Google their make and model and finish up with the Triple-M Register or the MGCC website where our Registrars details can be found.

Peter.
